The intern will assist the Blue School Secretariat of the Network of European Blue Schools of the EU4Ocean Coalition for Ocean Literacy . Under the supervision of the managing director and the project manager, the intern can assist with the following tasks:
- Secretariat European Blue Schools: ensuring effective communication to engage teachers and schools via all available channels: email, Blue School Facebook group, Linkedin, Maritime Forum and eTwinning;
- Training: organize, run, and animate meetings, workshops, and teacher trainings;
- Certification: Assessment of applications and certification of existing and new schools;
- Marketing: successful dissemination of the Blue School program on an EU scale. Development promotion materials, mapping opportunities per country or region and participation in events where needed.
Desirable knowledge and skills:
- Being familiar with the (blue) education (or wider education) sector.
- A good command of the common office and online meeting programs and be familar with the use social media networks (Facebook, twitter, Instagram, linkedn etc).
- a high level of personal responsibility and self-discipline.
- excellent communication skills in English;
- interpersonal and networking abilities;
- organisational skills with a structured way of working and good time-management;
Who can apply?
- Students who are currently enrolled in a Bachelor, Master or PhD degree related to ocean science or (blue) education.
- Students who have graduated in the above fields less then 12 months before the start of the internship.
- The minimum age is 20 years old.
- Only students from EU-countries can apply.
Practicalities:
Application deadline is January 30th, 2025.
- Duration of the contract is min 3 and max 5 months. Starting date as from 01 February 2025, depending on duration of contract. The contract ends no later then 30 June 2025. Belgian students cannot work more then 475 hours per calender year.
- A minimum of 10 days per month (=76 hours) is required.
- The internship can be fully remotely with online supervision or partially remotely with maximum 2 days in the office in Gent, Belgium.
- Flight or accomodation expenses are not covered by the internship. What can be covered are public transport tickets to the office from any location in Belgium.
- Salary depends on the type of contract (Belgian students or international), duration of the contract and amount of hours/days per month.
