EMSEA 2025 Endorsed as a UN Ocean Decade Activity!
We are proud to share that the EMSEA Annual Conference 2025 has been officially endorsed as a Decade Activity by the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.
The endorsement recognises EMSEA 2025 as a relevant contribution to the Ocean Decade’s mission to connect ocean science with societal needs. It reflects the conference’s role in promoting ocean literacy and supporting collaboration between educators, scientists, and policymakers.
This recognition highlights the role of EMSEA 2025 in advancing the goals of the Ocean Decade and reflects the strength of the partnerships behind the conference. Our co-organising partners, Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ), EMODNET, and EuroGOOS, each contribute in vital ways to strengthening ocean literacy, improving access to marine knowledge, and connecting ocean science with education and society. Together, we aim to foster collaboration between educators, researchers, and decision-makers to promote a more ocean-literate Europe
We are also thankful to the National Decade Committee of Flanders for their support, which enables broader access through dedicated travel fellowships for students and Early Career Ocean Professionals (ECOPs).
